August lineups are packed with 99 OVR options, yet the Egg Hunt still earns a look when its tasks overlap with other modes and rewards. A few well-planned games can also stretch your MLB The Show 26 Stubs budget further.

Why the Egg Hunt Still Deserves a Run

The Egg Hunt is no longer mainly about finding a starter for a competitive lineup. Its real value sits in collection progress, packs, XP, and Jackson Merrill at 100 points. You'll get there faster by treating the program like a routing puzzle. Finish the quick Moments first, then build one Conquest squad around the required hitters and pitchers. That approach cuts out repeat games, keeps your attention on useful plate appearances, and makes older content feel far less like a chore.

Finish every Moment before loading into Conquest.
Stack required hitters at the top of your order.
Save uncertain Diamond Quest objectives for later.

Build Around the Objectives, Not Your Usual Squad

The Conquest section carries most of the easy progress. Use Troy Tulowitzki, Nolan Arenado, Nolan Gorman, Juan Yepez, and Dylan Carlson for the extra-base-hit requirements. Add Gold Clay Holmes, Kerry Wood, and A.J. Puk to the pitching staff. Holmes and Wood need credited wins, while Puk needs one inning. After that, move to Mini Seasons with players wearing number 7 or 28. The 500 PXP target is much less annoying when several eligible players contribute at once.

Use gap hitters when doubles matter more than raw power.
Keep speed near the top for stolen-base attempts.
Use Puk in a low-pressure inning and move on.

Reality check: You don't need every Egg to reach Jackson Merrill, so don't force multiplayer if offline progress already gets you there.

Where Luis Castillo Fits Right Now

Luis Castillo is a useful reminder that rating alone doesn't tell the whole story. His Vintage card sits below the current 99 OVR crowd, but the pitch mix still gives him a job. The four-seam fastball and sinker create similar visual looks, while the slider and circle change slow hitters down. Start with velocity, then change eye level. The card works best when you avoid repeating the same sequence every at-bat. Good opponents will sit on patterns quickly, so mix the changeup beneath the zone and use the slider away after showing inside heat.

Pair high fastballs with low sinkers to move the hitter's eyes.
Use the circle change when early swings start appearing.
Hide the slider until the fastball has been established.

Protect Your Time and Long-Term Progress

Castillo is not part of an Egg Hunt mystery mission, and his recent team move doesn't change the attributes on an existing card. That matters when building a task lineup. Use him only if his innings also help PXP, strikeouts, or another active program. For the Egg Hunt, the sensible order is fixed progress first, uncertain rewards second. Moments, Conquest, and Mini Seasons provide the dependable base. Diamond Quest can wait for a focused attempt, while the Red and Green Eggs should be judged by the time they demand.

Check the exact card version before starting any player task.
Track points before committing to multiplayer objectives.
Keep Castillo for rotations where his pitch mix fills a real need.

A Practical August Finish

The Egg Hunt makes sense when it fits around current programs, not when it replaces them. Clear the guaranteed tasks, collect the useful progress, and let Castillo earn innings only where he genuinely helps. If you still need roster resources for the next upgrade, compare your route with MLB The Show 26 Stubs for sale before spending time on low-value games.
